How Can I Take Your Course?
All of our courses are delivered online and can be accessed from your computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can login at anytime and take your course at your own pace. Your progress is automatically saved when you log out or leave the website, so you can resume from where you left off when you log back in.
Our online courses are all in Video format with PDF slides that you can download and use to follow along with.
How Long Will I Have Access To Your Courses?
You will always have full access to your ctec tax course, even after you’ve completed it. This means you can retake your courses as many times as you’d like.
I'm interested in becoming a Tax Preparer, which course will I need to take?
If you want to prepare taxes for a fee or compensation in the state of California, you are first required to complete a CTEC Approved 60 Hour Qualifying Education tax course.
When is the deadline to complete my CTEC 20 Hour CE Course?
The deadline to complete your CTEC Registration Renewal is October 31st, so you must have your CTEC 20 Hour Continuing Education tax course completed by this date in order to complete your registration renewal.
How long does it take your company to report my hours to CTEC and/or the IRS?
California Tax Courses will report their students course completion to CTEC and/or the IRS within three business days from the time of course completion.
Do you offer refunds?
Absolutely, if you are not satisfied with your course you can request a full refund as long as it has not been more than 5 days from the time of purchase, or more than 50% of the course is completed.
Where are you located?
California Tax Courses delivers its course content exclusively online and does not have a physical location.
What are your hours of operation?
California Tax Courses support team is available Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm PST.
Requirements To Renew Your CTEC Registration
1. Complete a CTEC 20 Hour Continuing Education Course from a CTEC Approved Education Provider.
The course should include 15 hours of federal tax law topics and 5 hours of California tax law topics.
2. Renew your PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) Number with the IRS each year.
You can renew your PTIN number for free by going to https://rpr.irs.gov/datamart/mainMenuUSIRS.do.
3. Maintain a $5,000 Tax Preparer Bond
You can purchase tax preparer bonds from many different places online, and they typically cost anywhere in between $25 and $40.
4. Renew your registration and pay the $33 annual registration before October 31 of each year.
You can renew your CTEC Registration by going to CTEC.org. You cannot renew your registration until the first three steps have been completed. If you renew your registration after October 31st, a $55 dollar late fee will be applied
